I just couldn't give it more than three stars because after that level of betrayal, there is no way any woman in her right mind would've forgiven Kai.SPOILER ALERT!!!
5 months ago, they spent 3 magical days together, making love on the third night, only for him to tell her he is moving to another city to give a long time on and off relationship with another woman a real chance.....hello, he knew this from the moment he laid eyes on Lily - there is no excuse for him making her believe they had a chance at a real relationship & having sex with her before revealing that he has already committed himself to another woman! What kind of loser tells a long time on & off girlfriend he is moving to be with her & to give their relationship a real chance and then goes off to romance & screw some other woman right before he moves in with her? If he met Lily & fell in love, he owed it to her & the girlfriend to be honest & upfront & choose one or the other woman - without sampling the goods first! He left & lived with that woman, slept with that woman for several months & now he's decided he'd rather have Lily. What's to stop this jerk from doing the exact same thing with the next beautiful & exciting new woman he meets?? Nothing - and that's why I don't buy their HEA or HFN for that matter.

It was FANTASTIC!! A very believable, grippingly breathtaking love story!! I fell in LOVE with these two characters!! I enjoyed Lily's standoffish behavior towards Kai, especially when she elucidates the way he shattered her heart. Then Kai demonstrating the fact that he made a mistake, trying desperately to convince Lily, that she's the ONE! The scenes were EXTREMELY descriptive! And best of all, Ms. Dee used my 3 MOST FAVORITE WORDS when articulating a sordid love affair tumultuous, traitorous, & tempestuous. WELL DONE MS. DEE, WITHOUT-A-DOUBT BEYOND A 5 STAR RATING!!

Wow! The One That Got Away by Jess Dee was scorching hot right from the beginning. What an unforgettable first scene! The chemistry between Kai and Lily sizzled and crackled and then the mini cliffhanger that had me guessing before I turned the page. After a whirlwind time together, real life and past promises get in the way. Kai and Lily come face-to-face again months later and it's like nothing has changed as their connection still remains. This was a very quick story, but I loved the emotions that played out in every scene. I could relate and understand how both of them were feeling and I wanted them to be able to get over past mistakes and be together. This book was a great way to get in a quick and hot read that left me very satisfied.
Jess Dee proves in this short story that she is just a master of expressing emotions. She opens the story with a scorching scene between Kai and Lily. What I loved most about this book, is that Dee is able to show in just in a short scene that these characters have more than lust between them. Then she throws us a curve and breaks them apart before things can even really have the chance to get started. Promises were made before they met, and Kai feels that he has to hold himself to his commitment. I love the way the story picks back up with Lily explaining to her friend about what happened a few months back with Kai as he is now suddenly thrown back in her path and she can't let herself forget all those feelings she still has for him. Even though we don't get to hear the story from Kai's point of view, Dee was still able to express his feelings to make the reader believe that he truly feels that he made a huge mistake. Although this is a short story, and I never want Jess Dee's books to end, it does leave a feeling of being complete. The ending also left a promise for the future, which I just absolutely loved. ) I definitely recommend this if you are looking for a sexy, short read.
This is a very short story from Jess Dee. As short as it was it was great, it was sweet, it was to the point with lots of love
Two strangers meet through friends. They are soulmates from the start. Only Kai has promised someone else, that he will try to salvage their relationship. Lily is devastated & asks him to leave. Five months later, they are at the same party. Can Kai mend the heart he splintered or should he just move on & leave Lily in pieces? Read on, this was a fun short story with just enough sex to make you melt a little!!
